Founded in 1961, Baltimore Heritage, Inc. is the citywide, nonprofit historic and architectural preservation organization. We work to promote the preservation, appreciation, and economic potential of Baltimore's distinctive architecture, historic neighborhoods, and heritage resources. We do this through advocacy, education, and technical assistance. We seek to establish historic preservation as a public and governmental value to ensure a high quality of life for Baltimoreans now and in the future. We work to save Baltimore's built environment.

Baltimore Heritage has been instrumental in the preservation of Mount Vernon Place, City Hall, Camden Station, 301 Water Street, cast-iron and "class B" office buildings, 225 North Charles Street, the west side of downtown, African-American historic sites, and many other significant structures and areas. Our annual preservation awards have recognized the contributions of projects, organizations, and individuals, and have heightened public awareness of the value of adaptive reuse of historic buildings. Our tours, workshops, exhibits, lectures, newsletter, and membership events have educated Baltimoreans about our priceless architectural heritage. Our liaison with government has made preservation a part of the planning process. We work closely with like-minded organizations.
