Please join us for Baltimore Heritage's 2008 Historic Preservation Awards Reception to honor the city's best preservation projects and the people who have worked to save Baltimore's historic places this year.
The Awards Reception will feature a special tribute to Baltimore Heritage President Julian Lapides for over 50 years of fearless leadership for historic preservation in Baltimore City.

Preservation Award Nomination Applications
Each spring, Baltimore Heritage hosts a
dinner and ceremony to present awards in four categories for
outstanding achievements in historic preservation. This brochure
contains information on the awards and the nomination form.
Nominations for Spring 2009 awards are due April 3, 2009. The Awards Reception will be held in June. An exact date has not been set.
Nominations are encouraged for building projects, people, and organizations. Self nominations are also encouraged.

Projects must be located within the
City of Baltimore. For , and must have been completed BEFORE
January 1 of the year they are submitted. (For the Block by Block
Award, the stage of the project nominated for an award must be
completed by this date, but the entire project does not need to be
completed). People nominated for individual awards must live or work in
the City of Baltimore.
For project nominations, consideration
will be given only to projects employing proper preservation techniques
as required by the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic
Preservation. New structures in historic environments will also be
considered.
All entries must be submitted in an 8
1/2" x 11" pocket folder or binder. Photographs should be placed in
plastic sleeves. Digital images should be on a CD and in .jpg format.
All submitted materials become the
property of Baltimore Heritage, for unrestricted use. Clearances must
be obtained from owners and photographers prior to entering. The names
of all photographers should be indicated with each submission.

Preservation Project Award
The Preservation Project Award
recognizes excellence in the restoration, renovation, rehabilitation or
adaptive use of interiors and/or exteriors of individual structures or
groups of buildings. The entire project must be completed to be
eligible for this award.
Block by Block Preservation Project Award
The Block by Block Preservation Project
Award recognizes excellence in the restoration, renovation,
rehabilitation or adaptive use of interiors and/or exteriors of
individual structures or groups of buildings, and is given to projects
completed in stages over many years. Only the project stage nominated
for an award, and not the entire project, must be completed for this
award.
Preservation Honor Award
The Preservation Honor Award recognizes
significant personal or organizational achievements in preservation
advocacy, planning, development, education, law, media, research, and
community leadership.
Douglas H. Gordon Award for Preservation Advocacy
The Douglas H. Gordon Award for
Preservation Advocacy recognizes groups or individuals, who through
advocacy and action, have taken a leadership role in local preservation
concerns. |
